Security Software Installation Information
The USB hard
drive can be used immediately on any OS above Windows 98/98SE without installation or
drivers.
However, in
order to utilize the powerful security functions the USB hard drive is capable of, a
small program must be installed once. Detailed instructions can be found in the
provided manual on the floppy disk to accomplish this. If you decide to try it
without reading the manual, the default password that you will be asked for is 0000
(that’s 4 zeros). You can
change it at any time and use up to 8 characters, upper or lower case, numbers
and symbols or any combination of each.

Notes:
Installing
the USB Driver:
In some Windows system, users should log on as the Administrator before installation.
Once you
have attached USB hard drive to the computer, the OS will find the appropriate driver
or, the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog will appear after a moment. You
can also do the installation of the Driver manually or just run the Setup.exe
file on the provided floppy to do the driver installation.

The
UMSD.exe program can only handle one USB hard drive at a time. If you are not
going to use the functions of UMSD.exe, like Resize, Change
Password, or Log In, etc., you can insert as many USB hard drives as
you have USB ports. If you want to use the functions of UMSD, please remove all
other USB hard drives. Otherwise, the UMSD.exe may not perform properly and could
even cause data lost.
After you install the software and driver correctly, the UMSD icon will appear in the notification area automatically.
